I offer a range of services to help and support your research project. It might help to think of me as a research associate who's there to help you get back on track but more importantly, to support you. I offer a thinking space to help you reflect and understand what your particular difficulties and priorities are.
One of the hardest things about neurodiversity is that it is difficult to know how to use the support when it is offered to us; being a good delegator is not our strongest suit! This is why I always begin with a detailed but informal consultation with you - this helps us both to understand what your particular difficulties and priorities are. This can be done via a Teams meeting or via email - whatever method works best for you and I can provide written prompts in advance if required. Following this, we'll set up regular meetings, emails, texts or chats to help keep you on track and to check in with progress.
In general, I break my services down into two main areas - researcher support and project assistance.
Supporting you to plan, organise and achieve your research goals in a way that works with, rather than 'in spite of', your neurodiverse ways of working. This can include:
A detailed consultation to establish how your neurodiversity effects your working
Accountability assistance - regular meetings to discuss progress, brainstorming and deadline scheduling, 'body doubling' sessions
Helping to identify 'barriers' in your research practice such as overwhelm, executive dysfunction and task prioritisation.
It's especially useful to have someone who understands your work and working style that can assist with time consuming tasks - this can be done alongside the Researcher Support. This can include:
Grant writing and completion of the various phases of funding paperwork
Research administration - document editing, database management, participant recruitment, inbox management.
Of course, this list isn't exhaustive. I offer a bespoke service made to help you!
My standard fee is £40 per hour.
As needs vary from client to client, the amount of hours required can be determined on the basis of the initial consultation. Example structures below:
Grant writing assistance (from scratch) approx. 20 hours - £800
Longer term research development: one meeting per week for six months (24 hours) plus two hours per week research support tasks (48 hours) - £2880
